Bulls vs. Milwaukee Bucks: Game Preview #35

[Thanks to boyonthedock for today's game preview. Rose is starting and CJ is out. Game thread up at 7:08 -yfbb]

The Bulls get to face the tattered remains of the Milwaukee Bucks Basketball Squadron tonight at the United Center. I know this because Marquette has a home game at the Bradley Center tonight, and they have made a strong effort in recent years to stop playing NBA and NCAA games simultaneously on the same court.

Could Jeremy Lin bump Rose or Wade as an All Star Starter in 2013?

With all of the talk of Jeremy Lin, especially the size of his fan base amongst the Asian American and Chinese communities, I thought there might be a pretty decent chance he could be voted in as an all star starter next year. This would mean, of course, bumping either Derrick Rose or Dwayne Wade. Note that I am not saying Jeremy Lin SHOULD be an All Star over either player, but that he could potentially take advantage of the system voting in the top two vote getters at guard, regardless of their level of play during the course of the season.

First, let's look at the numbers of votes that Wade and Rose have gotten in the last 2 years since both have been starters for the game:

2012

Rose:1,514,723

Wade: 1,334,223

2011

Rose: 1,225,575

Wade: 1,499,768

It looks like Lin would need somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.4 million votes to be a lock. Now let's see how voting in China, with a population of 1.3 billion, has typically inflated All Star Starter numbers.

Will Jeremy Lin bump Derrick Rose or Dwayne Wade as a 2013 All Star Game Starter?

4-step plan how the Bulls can become the best

As of lately I have heard a lot of smack talk coming from ESPN. Them saying that the Bulls are good but will lose to either New York or Miami. I am just about done with that. So why not make some trades and/or signs that will shut them up and make it a little big easier on Derrick Rose.

Trade for O.J. Mayo: D Rose has once again not had a SG. Rip Hamilton has missed game after game and now enough is enough. I am done with Rip so now the Bulls need to trade for a new SG. That SG is O.J. Mayo, he is a great shooter especially in the mid-range and can play not only in the two guard but also in the Point and Small Forward. But the true problem that lies within is how the Bulls could get Mayo. Rip Hamilton has little to no value due to his injuries and I don't know if the Grizzlies would take C.J. Watson and a draft pick. The only way to find out is to pursue it. But I will say I would give Hamilton a chance but he has shown that he cannot stay healthy.

Give Noah the ball: Everyone already knows that Noah is an outstanding passer but what he is most underrated at is shooting. That is mostly thanks to D Rose and Noah’s weird jump shot. Everyone knows that I love D Rose and that Rose deserves every second he Is on the floor. But somebody needs to let Noah take more shots. He is a great shooter and deserves at least three more shoots per game. But still Noah is a great offensive rebounder and has shown this ability a great ammount especially in the Atlanta Hawks game with 5 offensive rebounds. When was the last time Dwight Howard had done that?

Trade or sign a better backup PG: The first guy I come to think of is Allen Iverson. AI would be a solid backup for both Guards. For trading I can currently think of three guys the Bulls could trade for: Ramon Sessions, Jonny Flynn, D.J. Augustin. All three, very sturdy backups but all three have pretty big values. So each one could possibly take a first rounder, but I will say that out of anyone I would love D.J. Augustin on the Bulls roster.

Do not trade for Dwight Howard: Right now the Bulls have four great big men so why would you want to break them apart? Right now Joakim Noah is showing why he had received that big contract and Boozer has been playing great. The Bulls have the best backup big men in the NBA with Omer Asik and Taj Gibson. The Bulls would terribly hurt themselves by trading for Howard and would bring in someone that is in the NBA for nothing but money and fame. Also the Bulls would be trading Luol Deng for Hedo Turkoglu. C'mon does that seem fair?

Anyone else have any ideas on how the Bulls could possibly become better? Let me know in the comments.

Also sorry, my computer has crashed so I am trying to post this from my iPod touch and it is really difficult to do so. So Blogabull.com please make a app so I can post while I'm on my iPod.

Time to make a trade to become a championship team!

But who should we go for???

I've been reading peoples trade suggestions for the past few months and its time that people start thinking a little more logical. Trading for Beasley....? Please tell me you're joking.

Trading for Gasol? Sounds good but isn't practical. The result of trading for Gasol would leave us with less depth and having to pay Pau 19million a year.. Thats all we need... The only way to get gasol that would make sense is to trade carlos boozer along with another player such as cj watson or a draft pick. If this were to happen i think it would be solid trade because we dont lose any offense (infact we most likely gain offense) and we gain a better defender/rebounder.

Trading for dwight sounds nice but for now is just a fantasy for bulls nation. Dwight has made it clear that he wants to be traded to the lakers, mavericks, or nets. He really hasn't shown a whole lot of interest in chicago unfortunately. The second reason that this deal is unlikely would be because we don't have the stars that the lakers have to offer. And if we really want him we would have to really sacrifice which could kill the chemistry of the team.

Trading for melo doesn't sound like a terrible idea just because we could use an extra weapon but he doesn't really fit in to our system. 1. hes a selfish shooter 2. hes not a great defensive player and 3. he has an ego bigger than our whole team put together.

Now we can start thinking a little more rational. First off what do the bulls need? They need a two guard who can attract defenders and hit a jumper. Ideally this guard would be able to share the minutes equally with rip so that rip has more time to rest and so he can stay healthy.

The first trade I would consider making would be watson/brewer for Dragic/lee or watson for courtney lee straight up. Lee is a young talent who could split time with rip and put efficient numbers up. I wouldn't mind us trading for oj mayo because hed be a solid player but he has to much money on his contract to make him worth it unless we get him for the right price.

Another solid back up would be arron affalo but the player i wouldn't mind seeing us make a play for is CAPTAIN KIRK! He was loved in chicago back in the day and to be honest who wouldn't want him back. He could play pg or sg at any given time. I think he would be the perfect guy to bring back.

Some have also suggested making a play for ray allen which wouldn't be bad but we would have to give up a lot to land him and he would only be there for a season. But adding any of these guards would definitely make us a tough team to beat. Plus if this Gasol trade went through we eould easily be the favorites for the title!

Time to Get Creative: Trading for Michael Beasley.

Beasley's on my fantasy team and in a little nugget I saw while looking at his player page I saw this:

The Lakers and Minnesota have talked about a trade that would send Beasley to Los Angeles, ESPN's Chris Broussard reports. Beasley scored 17 points with seven rebounds in 33 minutes in Monday's loss to Denver.

The report says the Lakers would likely give up a second-round pick or cash.

Playoffs: Which non-Miami Teams are the Best and Worst Match-ups?

The 2011-2012 basketball season is nearing the All-star break, and the playoffs are vaguely taking shape. Chicago and Miami appear to be the best in the east and awaiting another June show-down to determine who plays in the NBA finals. A lot can change with regards to injuries, trades, and quality of play, but based on what you have seen thusfar in the NBA season, which play-off match-ups do you believe are the best and worst for the Bulls through the first and second round?

Pick and roll

I have seen around the wed in comments and even articles that other PG use the screen better then Rose. I think its the most ridiculous thing i have heard. Boozer(who i support and i think is doing well this year) and Noah (who i love) SUCK at picks they move out of the way of the defending PG and let him just get past the screen with no effort. This is a big problem in my opinion. Has anyone else noticed this? it is driving me crazy that those big guys just move out of the way of the small PG and let them get to rose so quick they need to stand strong block roses defender then move for the roll. All they do is move on the side of the defender and then as soon as rose goes to use the pick the big man(booze noah or gibson) just move out of the way and dont even get a little push on the defender.

I have read about a lot of bulls weaknesses that i dont agree with at all but this one needs to be address because if our soft big men did a better job at screens Rose would bring his game to even another level

Bulls vs. Boston Celtics: Game Preview #32

[Thanks to paddyfairview for today's game preview. BaB needs more previewers over the next couple of weeks, so sign up! Game Thread at 7 -yfbb]

Things we "learned" from Bulls-Celtics on Sunday:

1. John Lucas III possesses a unique NBA skill: the ability to move farther away from the hoop as he "drives"

2. Carlos Boozer defends the paint like a six year old who has to pee

3. Not playing makes Derrick Rose look like someone shot his dog [I still maintain he always looks like that -yfbb]

4. Omer Asik, whose offensive game might be described as, "like Kevin McHale's, only the exact opposite", takes so long to go up with the basketball that he can't buy a call, even when he's getting hammered, apparently because the refs just don't feel sorry for him

5. Between Stone Hands Taj and Lu's off night, there were so many rim-outs that I couldn't decide whether Rondo actually steals talent or Pedro Cerrano has switched sports.

6. ...and that's before we get to Ronnie Brewer, who shoots at the rim like he's Vinnie Jones and the hoop is Boris the Bullet Dodger (NSFW language)

7. Your 2011-12 Chicago Bulls, possibly the weirdest collection of misfits and half-complete players to have ever led the NBA in anything, let alone wins, has enough scrap and hustle in them to stay in games to the bitter, bitter end nearly all the time.

Colin Cowherd On Derrick Rose

Colin Cowherd On Derrick Rose (via martymonday69)

This is a segment on Derrick Rose's injuries on "The Herd". Colin is one of the only people i respect on espn, he's kind of a jack ass but he's gutsy and isn't afraid to say what he thinks. As for the slip ups this was on a Monday and Colin's a bit of a drinker, you do the math... I'll give him a pass haha.

The one thing i thought of when i watched this is, what if we had taken Beasley instead of Rose? I'm a big believer that a player only gets as good as the situation they're in, like Rondo wouldn't be the player he is if not being coached by Doc, Thibs, and 3 hall of famers. Would Beasley have been a hell of a player being coached by Thibs? I think so, but what's for certain is we have an mvp on our team. I just hope he can stay healthy enough to win some championships, he deserves it.
