David Banks-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire
This is how you do it, Ricky Davis! (Mandatory Credit: David Banks-US PRESSWIRE)
For Joakim Noah tonight, the triple-double talk came early, having 5 assists in just after the first 8 minutes of the game. He had 7 by halftime, with 8 rebounds and all 6 points coming from the free-throw line. By the end of the 3rd quarter, Noah became the first Bulls center with a triple-double since Artis Gilmore in 1977. And as that quarter ended and he hit a baseline tornado to give him 13 points, he gave an emphatic version of the fingagunz holster, and solidified his place as just the best.
By then the Bulls were up 93-75 and Noah didn't have to see the floor the rest of the night, as the fourth quarter played out as garbage-time (sorry, not for you Luol Deng, get out there!) and skews downward the fantastic offensive night the Bulls displayed otherwise, because it was quite impressive.
There was Noah's statistical feat, Derrick Rose showing more burst as he returns from injury, Carlos Boozer unleashing post moves, Kyle Korver getting ran off the 3-point line but draining long twos, Ronnie Brewer looking completely turned around now that Rose has returned to the lineup (7-10 shooting)...even Luol Deng responded from a very quiet first half to eventually get to 16 points.
The Bucks actually played fairly well on offense, helped out by the Bulls 20 turnovers, but they were up against a juggernaut. When they weren't throwing the ball away, the Bulls couldn't be stopped, and in the rare case they were even slowed, the rebound would nearly always wind up in their hands: an astounding 45% to 25% OffReb% advantage. The Bucks front line, depleted without Andrew Bogut and Drew Gooden, just coiuldn't compete with Boozer and Noah. Either they'd have Ersan Ilyasova try to guard Booz and get backed down, or they'd switch and allow Noah to have free reign of the offensive glass.
The Bucks don't have the manpower even with Bogut, Gooden, or Stephen Jackson, but opponent aside it was a destruction that was nice to see. Tom Thibodeau can still look to failings with turnovers and defense and not be entirely wrong, but as he heads to the All-Star break with Derrick Rose and Deng he has to be pleased that in no way has his team lost focus. It's been a trial-laden but extremely successful season, and the break is well-earned. But I'm sure the team is excited and their coach ever-excitable knowing the higher caliber of opposition awaits them in the second half of the season.

Another one of those “woulda-coulda-shoulda been” players noone can explain unless you saw him play
Belize - February 22, 2012 via mobile
didnt he play for the heat and celtics?
that man has big issues.
Geo4MVP - February 22, 2012
yep
He had promise at one point tho
Belize - February 22, 2012 via mobile
yeah, another player that comes to mind is steve francis
aka stevey “franchise,” lol
Geo4MVP - February 22, 2012
he shoulda won that sdt over vince
+ I thought his 1st stint with the rockets was his best years..esp right before the trade. Btw him crying over the cuttino mobley trade was fukin weird
Belize - February 22, 2012 via mobile
i think i just summed up francis' career
Smh @ myself
Belize - February 22, 2012 via mobile
lol, yeah, and stephen marbury aka "starbury" lol
Geo4MVP - February 22, 2012
Linked to that Ricky Davis youtube
was his through the legs dunk attempts against the Lakers.
That guy clearly had rocks in his head.
cayal - February 23, 2012
hibbert was the second best center in the east so far, but
good noah > good hibbert
gooses - February 22, 2012
i wish noah could be good noah for an entire season
and not have to work his butt into shape….DURING a season
piccolomair - February 22, 2012
yeah, but i think same can be said about multiple players this crazy season
i recall deron williams struggling earlier on…
Geo4MVP - February 22, 2012
Dirk too
T.Moore - February 22, 2012
And Wade.
Tim S. - February 23, 2012
He pretty much did that last year
I’m guessing he just isn’t motivated enough to stay fully in shape during a lockout
tuluse - February 22, 2012
Not really
He averaged 14 and 12 before the all-star break last year and only 9 and 9 after. His play clearly dropped off.
Poloplaya14 - February 22, 2012
Everyone stated that he was in the best shape of his life
coming out of this lockout.
Rudey - February 23, 2012
Depending on what type of workouts he was doing
there’s a big difference between being in shape and being in game shape. Unless he was playing lots of pickup/scrimmages all the conditioning and weight lifting in the world won’t get you fully up to speed for NBA games (that’s what the preseason and training camp is for)
jeeves - February 23, 2012
yep.
i lift and cardio all the time, and never even go out and shoot let alone play a game. just shooting around and doing layups without doing it for months is like a complete ass kicking.
obnoxious american - February 23, 2012
yeah
I’ve been playing off and on, just tried playing full speed for the first time after being sick, and I felt like throwing up after like 3 minutes.
Prevenge - February 23, 2012
Could just be that his timing was way off, and he wasn't quite in complete "basketball" shape
Even a guy like Westbrook couldn’t play dead the first couple weeks of the season, and now he’s a force of nature (aa well as a dipshit)
Juiceboxjerry - February 23, 2012
Year before last, yes.
Last year was a contract year, so maybe that was why he started out in the best shape of his life.
Tim S. - February 23, 2012
I think the Bulls need to make sure that Hamilton plays coming out of the All Star game
That way, it gives the team a full couple weeks to watch him, and see how his body holds up prior to the deadline. Id we wait til after the deadline, or a few games before, we could end up kinda stuck. At least if he falls apart again before, that gives the team at least a bit of a chance to replace him with something decent. Maybe they try and pull of the Courtney Lee thing again
Juiceboxjerry - February 23, 2012
Here's a quote on this particular topic that I haven't seen elsewhere:
Sam Smith
Juiceboxjerry - February 23, 2012
YEAHHH
Hypothetical Rip becoming actual Rip?
TheFunkle - February 23, 2012
Someone posted a Gar quote saying that Rip would play against the Bucks if it was really necessary
JustAnotherFan - February 23, 2012
It should read "Boozer unleashing more post moves"
He’s spending a lot more time down there which is a great sign
Option27 - February 23, 2012 via mobile
im pretty sure booz knew alot of fans were shittin on him for the lack of post game scoring
and it could be thibs is demanding booz to score more in the post.
Geo4MVP - February 23, 2012
I think Rose being out actually helped Boozer a bit
gave him the time (and the offensive focus) to help him rediscover his low post game
jeeves - February 23, 2012
no, it was probably the BaB comments
good job, everyone!
your friendly BullsBlogger - February 23, 2012
its just like the time we helped kirk kill the celtics
piccolomair - February 23, 2012
i don't get aaron gray's inclusion.
obnoxious american - February 23, 2012
If you are going to fuck up and make your hair look like shit for all the world to see, you better ball like mad to make up for it.
Let them insult your fashion or your play, but never both.
metalkiwis - February 23, 2012
Boozer's at his best around the hoop when he's just catching and going right up with it. Noah set him up a bunch of times tonight with good opportunities to do so.
He had some nice moves on the block, but the more of those easy baseline cuts for dunks and duck-ins for lay-ups he can get, the better.
fundamentallysound - February 23, 2012
He's great when he doesn't have a size disadvantage.
Unfortunately, against the best teams he often is undersized.
Tim S. - February 23, 2012
and he can't jump anymore.
your friendly BullsBlogger - February 23, 2012
and he can't jump anymore.
your friendly BullsBlogger - February 23, 2012
alright, we know!
obnoxious american - February 23, 2012
so it true it had to be said twice
tuluse - February 23, 2012
haha, still can't!
your friendly BullsBlogger - February 23, 2012
For those that are interested
Noah put up, numerically, the third fewest field goals made and third fewest field goals attempted during a triple double. Isiah Thomas has the record for field goals made with 1, and Bo Outlaw has the record for attempts with 3.
jeeves - February 23, 2012
in other words Isiah got it with a lot of shitty calls
JustAnotherFan - February 23, 2012
I would love to help LA get Howard
Boozer is playing well, but if the Bulls can wiggle their way into grabbing Pau, I say go for it, especially if it’s only going to cost Booz, CJ, Omer and some picks.
DRose-Rip-Deng-Gasol-Noah is championship material no doubt. Gasol is a legit 7 footer, so no size mismatch with a 6’9 grounded PF. He’s a better shooter and passer than Booz, and he’s probably a better defender, he’s sure not worse.
Plus, DRose wants him.
Ceasaleo - February 23, 2012 via mobile
DRose denied it

here’s the video of thibs and ronnie talking bout it
Belize - February 23, 2012
Triple JOuble baby.
Solid smashing all the way around. Now, everybody get some rest. 31 games left, of which I’d say a solid 21 are against playoff-caliber teams.
Locust_Inferno_666 - February 23, 2012
Am I the only one who remembers how ass Pau was in the playoffs last year?
If Boozer and Pau are both good, it’s not really worth giving up other pieces to make the swap. If they are both ass, at least Boozer still has a money jumper. So we’d be trading CJ, Asik, and some picks based on the hunch that Boozer will have an ass playoffs and Gasol will have an awesome playoffs. Meh.
kpd - February 23, 2012
yeah, i mean pau is better than Booz, but I dont think the gap is that big.
Geo4MVP - February 23, 2012
Really?
One good game against what is probably the worst frontcourt in the league and you are saying an upgrade to Pau is not worth it?
Just stop man. That’s the same type of fool that said it wasn’t worth moving Deng to get Kobe or Kirk for ANYONE.
Pau Gasol(Marc too) is a much better basketball player than Carlos Boozer.Gasol is bigger, stronger, faster and more intelligent on the court. The man actually plays defense by moving his feet! His game is miles ahead of Booz. Now there are some reasons to not want the swap(bigger salary, older player), but on-the-court play this year is not on the list.
Boozer always goes beast mode against soft competition. Pau at least has the capability to dominate the best players.
metalkiwis - February 23, 2012

F…
JustAnotherFan - February 23, 2012
yeah, really
i think i got aroused from it, or something
obnoxious american - February 23, 2012
So everyone feels good and doesn't want to say it?
Of course Boozer and Noah looked good against the Bucks depleted front-court. They were missing both starters. Come on, lets not get too excited. Booz and Jo always destroy undersized backups. Do something against the duos in Orl, LA, Mia, NY, basically do something against actual NBA caliber starters and I will be impressed.
metalkiwis - February 23, 2012
I feel good.
All-star break, took care of business against the Bucks, Rip projected to make a return, and I believe we are seeing the real Noah now (Not a triple-double every night, though!).
Are you looking for reasons to keep your blood pressure up?!
Joninja - February 23, 2012
you need some Sam
Link
JustAnotherFan - February 23, 2012
The really exciting part is that that Noah had a double digit assist game a week after Luol had one
And so the Bulls lead the league in assists
JustAnotherFan - February 23, 2012
OT Meanwhile ledouche sayin he'll guard lin
And to that I say…He’s BSing on the want people to like him crap
T.Moore - February 23, 2012
He's such a tool.
I much preferred Kobe Bryant’s response to the bombardment of Lin questions: “Who?”
jpx7 - February 23, 2012
i mean, even i agree with kobe's response...
few games in and people started preaching him as if he were an elite pg like Rose.
Geo4MVP - February 23, 2012
I've noticed
That Ledouche isnt afraid of guarding PGs…Are we suppose to be impressed, I mean the man is built like a tank and is almost as fast as D Rose’s. People talked shit about how he shut him down…Well he better I mean if you can’t guard a gut 5 feet shorter than you with your atletic gifts it would be a shame. He’s supposed to beable to guard those guys
T.Moore - February 23, 2012
my fav thing about lebron is the fact that he can lock down almost all 5 spots
Belize - February 23, 2012
damn my typos
T.Moore - February 23, 2012
I thought Kobe's response was that of a little child who isn't the center of attention anymore.
Ozzie Montana - February 23, 2012
Sure, I might agree with that.
But it’s still better than LeBron’s response.
jpx7 - February 23, 2012
Does anyone have the stats for the Boerwinkle and Gilmore triple doubles?
I’m guessing Gilmore’s was blocks.
El Toro de Goro - February 23, 2012
