He’s still really good, and when we have Derrick, I still think he’s the better backup. But when Derrick’s out, you can jst see that we need someone to make plays from that position
0-3 shooting, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 0 steals, 1 block — and +14 in 20 minutes. Either he’s a defensive whirlwind, or you can’t tell anything from plus/minus for one game.
Mike James really impressing me with his court vision tonight. He takes WAYYYYYY too long to get into our sets though, so many shots at the end of the clock/24 second violations when he’s in.
Booze, Deng and Noah went on that run in the 2nd quarter and James just happened to be in there.
I think he just ran the offense and didn’t take bad shots, which is what made everyone clamor for him since Lucas and Watson were just looking really bad.
man am i regretting not going to the january game. would have seen him display his MVP skills!! haven’t seen the bulls win in the garden for a few years now…
This is why I hate this forum sometimes. Everyone is hugging Mike James' nuts
He had a very nice game, although he had some real idiotic plays late. If I copied and pasted the comments from the Washington game, you guys say the exact same thing about Lucas. Now you all say he sucks. You can’t judge players on one game, good or bad. Yeah, James had a good game but he’s been in the league for like 13 years and nobody wants him. He’s not all of the sudden talented. Let’s not get carried away with 2 good games that he’s had for us.
He played a great game and I’ll give him credit. I’m just saying let’s not say he’s better than CJ or anything better than a 3rd guard in the league right now long term for us. I’m sure you guys will be dumping on him next week. I’m glad we found someone to take JLIII’s minutes though, we can all agree on that.
hes everything that pargo was supposed to be for the bulls, except i hate pargo good and bad.
i dont think anyones actually said something ridiculous about mike james except wanting him to play in the game, and as thibs showed (by playing him in the game the entire 4th really) he was definetly a key reason for the win.
If someone starts talking about mike james getting a starting job while cj is out (bballsmurf…) then thats crazy, but so far ive just read a bunch of ’mike james bitch" comments…
That the bench mob has no offense and needs Cj to jack it up. I honestly think mike James would run it better. He moves the ball and good things happen its simple.
Let Cj play sg for short stints and give mike James some minutes, he’s out played Cj both times he’s played.
And so can taj and korver but Cj doesn’t let them. I don’t hate Cj but he’s just an idiot sometimes. He’s either hot from 3 or he sucks and then rose doesn’t get any rest. It’s annoying.
All he needs to do is be an actual PG. It will open up the floor and create better shots for the benchmob. You can even give Boozer more minutes with them so James can run PnR. CJ isn’t s PG.
the bench mob consists of one offensive weapon outside of the pg
and thats korver…..having cj and korver opens things up for taj and brewer. mike james can run the floor as well as he wants, hes not fucking steve nash or chris paul, hes not gonna suddenly make guys better around him, his ability to ‘run’ and offense isnt going to make korver get anymore open……
the bench mobs role has always been to basically defend the crap out of teams while the starters got some rest by completely negating any influence another teams bench could have. I dont think you get that with mike james. Mike james looked more mortal when he was out there with taj and asik as opposed to being out there with boozer and deng….
CJ is basically being a “hit or miss” alternative to Rose isn’t any better. CJ and Korver is going to get the same shots regardless of who the PG is, but having someone who can actually run an offense can create better opportunities for easy baskets may actually generate better results. We just watched it in this game compared to Sunday when CJ just shot himself out the gym.
I think you’re underestimating what an actual PG instead of a gunner playing PG, can actually do for an offense. You can play Boozer some with James and the Mob and get much better results from that group.
He’s just not a pg, and he’s not good enough of a scorer to completely make up for it. Is rather have a guy like James come off the bench, his game isn’t flashy but I feel like the way he plays can be done consistensy. Cjs 3’s aren’t reliable.
…who were the other two who subbed in for cowherd and beadle, the one black dude that was afraid of everything, and the somewhat good looking blonde who did nothing but give him flak
what was up with Noah’s line though? He missed a ton of shots. Was he missing bunnies or putbacks or what? Nice rebounding numbers though esp. on the offensive glass where it looks like he was beasting
so much when Rose is playing, especially against the heat. Hopefully with him being out they reevaluate their roles on the team against good competition
I thiiiiink I might take the Clips. Although OKC’s insane home court advantage makes me think twice. Not even trying to clown him, but I just don’t trust Westbrook. Too much of a spaz, and CP can take advantage
Might have to lean Thunder because they don’t have VDN. But then again they will have Westbrook taking 35 shots a game (while Harden will have 18 ppg on 8 shots.)
Clippers have zero defense, Griffin and Jordan can't make free throws, no Billups means relying heavily on Randy Foye or Mo Williams down the stretch in playoff games.
I don’t buy it. Great offense but you don’t win playoff games without at least an average defense.
i think CP3 iwll start to realize that and start setting up more plays for Blake on a pick and roll or let Blake post up on mismatches or piss-poor defenders
and literally just ran one play, high screen and roll. Sometimes the side he ran it on were different, but it was always the same. His end of the game play was a floppy curl action above the freethrow line….
watch the clippers…thats all they run as well. The clippers are winning on talent alone, and i bet it will come to bite them in the ass come playoffs. If they play san antonio, dallas, or any other good veteran team, they will get trounced
There's honestly no point to keeping John Lucas III on this roster.
Mike James isn’t that good but he at least looks like he belongs on the same court as other professional players from time to time. Lucas had one decent game against a trainwreck of a team and hasn’t done shit since.
His “one good game” wasn’t even really a good game. Wasn’t he like 8-24 with like 7 TOs in that game. He was just the least of the jokes in a game filled with em.
It’s like they stole the Aztec gold of Cortez and until they give it back they’ll keep losing players to injury. If only they hadn’t strapped Darius Miles to a cannon and dropped him to the bottom of the sea…
They’ve done all of this missing Manu for most of the season and their young players are coming along really well. Pop, as usual, has done a great job with that squad. Oh, Tony Parker and Tim Duncan are balling right now.
no post up players besides no acl guy I cant remember his name atm who can do some of that but is small, Duncan can't post up anymore for the most part...
Parker does play well. Not sure about Manu when he will get back. They are a perimeter team that relies on the jump shot now and their core are older. I think they fade away in the playoffs, they do have a great coach so there is that.
They don't rely as much on the jumper as you think.
Parker gets most of his points in the paint, Duncan still gets his, they have a young slasher in Leonard and a decent frontcourt depth with Blair and Splitter. They don’t shoot all that high a volume of three’s either(13th most attempts per game).
There’s no real clear cut monster in the West; I wouldn’t put my money on San Antonio but I wouldn’t be that shocked if they came out of the West.
theres gonna be a bunch of trades happening the west
teams like denver and lakers are a trade or two away from suddenly becoming possible contenders. Lakers might just land dwight howard, and denver might get nash. the east is top heavy, but id say the two best two teams are definetly in the east. The west is a bit more competetive, but i think the trade deadline is gonna change that. Cant wait till trade deadline

Big illinoize - February 16, 2012
James had four assists but three turnovers.
I think this is really about how badly the other point guards played.
Tim S. - February 16, 2012
I agree.
Booze, Deng and Noah went on that run in the 2nd quarter and James just happened to be in there.
I think he just ran the offense and didn’t take bad shots, which is what made everyone clamor for him since Lucas and Watson were just looking really bad.
Dr. Handsome, D.D.S. - February 16, 2012
If only Watson would try feeding the big men.

There’s no way he’s going to say anything positive about the Bulls. Even if he does, its probably because it was scripted for him.

I think that them being old shouldn't be used as an excuse when teams beat the Celtics.

well I'm not making an excuse, but this is a big reason why they are losing imo
mjtig - February 16, 2012

Big illinoize - February 16, 2012
This is why I hate this forum sometimes. Everyone is hugging Mike James' nuts
He had a very nice game, although he had some real idiotic plays late. If I copied and pasted the comments from the Washington game, you guys say the exact same thing about Lucas. Now you all say he sucks. You can’t judge players on one game, good or bad. Yeah, James had a good game but he’s been in the league for like 13 years and nobody wants him. He’s not all of the sudden talented. Let’s not get carried away with 2 good games that he’s had for us.
TheHungarianJordan - February 16, 2012
James helped us win this game
Let’s take the glass-half empty shit somewhere else for tonight
KCinIL - February 16, 2012
Hey, you're right he did.
TheHungarianJordan - February 16, 2012
He did...run the offense better than CJ tonight...just saying!
Playboy_BullV - February 16, 2012
yeah he did lol
MartyMondays - February 16, 2012

He’s better than Lucas period. Never said once he’s better than CJ.

He's better for us than Lucas. Fact.
Big illinoize - February 16, 2012

HawkeyeBoiler - February 16, 2012
hes better than JLIII and thats a fuckin fact...
i watched JLIII alot and hes HORRRRRRRIIIIIIIBULLLLL. James i have watched with the raptors and now. Hes not a bad backup pg.
Geo4MVP - February 16, 2012
James runs the offense better than CJ
Playboy_BullV - February 16, 2012
well they both suck at running the offense
James will get better with practice time though. He has an excuse; He’s had like no time to learn our sets.
TheHungarianJordan - February 16, 2012
i for one always thought lucas sucked
hes everything that pargo was supposed to be for the bulls, except i hate pargo good and bad.
i dont think anyones actually said something ridiculous about mike james except wanting him to play in the game, and as thibs showed (by playing him in the game the entire 4th really) he was definetly a key reason for the win.
If someone starts talking about mike james getting a starting job while cj is out (bballsmurf…) then thats crazy, but so far ive just read a bunch of ’mike james bitch" comments…
piccolomair - February 16, 2012

the shots he takes…my god…
piccolomair - February 16, 2012
Mike James had 4 assists tonight and was +15. JL3 had ZERO assists and was +2
JL3 shoots way too much and doesnt run a NBA offese the way a NBA point gaurd should
MCREW - February 16, 2012
James also had three turnovers and 6 fouls in 17 minutes.
It’s not that he played great, it’s that the other PGs played so badly.
Tim S. - February 16, 2012
well he got Boozer involved
which changed the entire game. We have quality bigs that Cj and Lucas ignore for no reason other than to jack up a wild shot.
James brings a steady pace to the game.
MartyMondays - February 16, 2012
As I said, it's that the other PGs played so badly.
Tim S. - February 17, 2012
... game thread.
Dr. Handsome, D.D.S. - February 16, 2012
Vinny doesnt look quite so youthful anymore.
He’s showing his age,
Playboy_BullV - February 16, 2012
theres this idea
That the bench mob has no offense and needs Cj to jack it up. I honestly think mike James would run it better. He moves the ball and good things happen its simple.
Let Cj play sg for short stints and give mike James some minutes, he’s out played Cj both times he’s played.
MartyMondays - February 16, 2012 via mobile
no he wouldnt
mike james cant really score…..
piccolomair - February 16, 2012
yeah he can
And so can taj and korver but Cj doesn’t let them. I don’t hate Cj but he’s just an idiot sometimes. He’s either hot from 3 or he sucks and then rose doesn’t get any rest. It’s annoying.
MartyMondays - February 16, 2012 via mobile
how many times does cj come in
For like 3 minutes, throw up a brick, turn the ball over, then Thibs puts rose right back in for the entire game.
It seems like it happens a lot
MartyMondays - February 16, 2012 via mobile
He doesn't need to
All he needs to do is be an actual PG. It will open up the floor and create better shots for the benchmob. You can even give Boozer more minutes with them so James can run PnR. CJ isn’t s PG.
Dils - February 16, 2012
the bench mob consists of one offensive weapon outside of the pg
and thats korver…..having cj and korver opens things up for taj and brewer. mike james can run the floor as well as he wants, hes not fucking steve nash or chris paul, hes not gonna suddenly make guys better around him, his ability to ‘run’ and offense isnt going to make korver get anymore open……
piccolomair - February 16, 2012
to add some more
the bench mobs role has always been to basically defend the crap out of teams while the starters got some rest by completely negating any influence another teams bench could have. I dont think you get that with mike james. Mike james looked more mortal when he was out there with taj and asik as opposed to being out there with boozer and deng….
piccolomair - February 16, 2012
Thibs could be smart
in that case and run boozer with the bench mob some.
MartyMondays - February 16, 2012 via mobile
Why settle?
CJ is basically being a “hit or miss” alternative to Rose isn’t any better. CJ and Korver is going to get the same shots regardless of who the PG is, but having someone who can actually run an offense can create better opportunities for easy baskets may actually generate better results. We just watched it in this game compared to Sunday when CJ just shot himself out the gym.
I think you’re underestimating what an actual PG instead of a gunner playing PG, can actually do for an offense. You can play Boozer some with James and the Mob and get much better results from that group.
Dils - February 16, 2012
exactly
He’s just not a pg, and he’s not good enough of a scorer to completely make up for it. Is rather have a guy like James come off the bench, his game isn’t flashy but I feel like the way he plays can be done consistensy. Cjs 3’s aren’t reliable.
MartyMondays - February 16, 2012 via mobile

what was up with Noah’s line though? He missed a ton of shots. Was he missing bunnies or putbacks or what? Nice rebounding numbers though esp. on the offensive glass where it looks like he was beasting
TheHungarianJordan - February 16, 2012
He missed a shitload of putbacks
It was wierd.
Bullforlife - February 16, 2012
and layups
chicity773 - February 16, 2012
I just wish they wouldn't stand around
so much when Rose is playing, especially against the heat. Hopefully with him being out they reevaluate their roles on the team against good competition
pb&j - February 16, 2012
Who wins in a series, Clips or Thunder?
Stacey_Is_King - February 16, 2012
Thunder.
Playboy_BullV - February 16, 2012
Thhunder
Bullforlife - February 16, 2012
thunder in 6 games
Geo4MVP - February 16, 2012
Thunder.
Even if the Clips are in a position to win, the NBA has shown they’ll blow calls to get Durant a W.
fanoftheunderdogs - February 16, 2012
clippers in finals = more money
Than the thunder
MartyMondays - February 16, 2012 via mobile
Kevin Durant = face of NBA
fanoftheunderdogs - February 17, 2012
Clips
Paul will own Westbrooks, then Durant will have to outscore butler, griffin, and mo williams. I don’t think he does.
MartyMondays - February 16, 2012 via mobile
...while James Harden strokes his beard off in the distance somewhere
Scribbz - February 16, 2012
I'll stick my neck out and take the Clips
I’d put my trust in Paul before any other player between the teams
Stacey_Is_King - February 16, 2012
Thunder win by virtue of not being coached by Vinny.
Playboy_BullV - February 16, 2012
I don't know, westbrook might try to outduel paul and neglect durant
and ruin everything
pb&j - February 16, 2012
Interesting.
I thiiiiink I might take the Clips. Although OKC’s insane home court advantage makes me think twice. Not even trying to clown him, but I just don’t trust Westbrook. Too much of a spaz, and CP can take advantage
Juiceboxjerry - February 16, 2012
Thunder have no inside game and rely on jumpers too much...
so I give the Clips the edge maybe in seven.
mjtig - February 16, 2012
Complete toss up.
Might have to lean Thunder because they don’t have VDN. But then again they will have Westbrook taking 35 shots a game (while Harden will have 18 ppg on 8 shots.)
Dr. Handsome, D.D.S. - February 16, 2012
Clippers have zero defense, Griffin and Jordan can't make free throws, no Billups means relying heavily on Randy Foye or Mo Williams down the stretch in playoff games.
I don’t buy it. Great offense but you don’t win playoff games without at least an average defense.
Ozzie Montana - February 16, 2012
"Bouncy front court man"
Playboy_BullV - February 16, 2012
LOL
KMart with the dunk. Clips are really lob city.
Bullforlife - February 16, 2012
Another one from KMart!
Loving it!
Bullforlife - February 16, 2012
If only the clips had a real coach...
pb&j - February 16, 2012
please dont say that...
if they get jerry sloan, i woudl seriously fear them more than the heat.
Geo4MVP - February 16, 2012
If anyone wants to watch Thibs' presser
HERE
Juiceboxjerry - February 16, 2012
Blake looking good in the post
mjtig - February 16, 2012
once he gets a coach who influences defense
watch out, and im saying WATCH THE FUCK OUT! Hes going to become the MVP of this league if that happens.
Geo4MVP - February 16, 2012
rose says bitch please
jesus christos - February 16, 2012
lol, well, i think rose will always be the MVP by default
however, im sure hell get lots of consideration as the MVP by the fans, media etc.
Geo4MVP - February 16, 2012
not big on VDN I see, well they do chuck a lot of threes and he does not post up nearly enough...
they should be getting him as many touches as possible and he better get better at free throws also.
mjtig - February 16, 2012
i think CP3 iwll start to realize that and start setting up more plays for Blake on a pick and roll or let Blake post up on mismatches or piss-poor defenders
Geo4MVP - February 16, 2012
vdn coached the bulls
and literally just ran one play, high screen and roll. Sometimes the side he ran it on were different, but it was always the same. His end of the game play was a floppy curl action above the freethrow line….
watch the clippers…thats all they run as well. The clippers are winning on talent alone, and i bet it will come to bite them in the ass come playoffs. If they play san antonio, dallas, or any other good veteran team, they will get trounced
piccolomair - February 16, 2012
Do you think Big Sexy regrets leaving us for Portland?
They are currently out of the playoffs.
Bullforlife - February 16, 2012
i think portland has been pretty unfortunate
injuries left and right, loosing roy and oden, i really feel bad for that franchise. And their fans are jsut spectacular.
Geo4MVP - February 16, 2012
Yeah, I always liked Portland, right from the days Scottie played for them
Also the days SHEED played for them
Bullforlife - February 16, 2012
Aldridge
That’s all I have to say
Saukrates - February 16, 2012
There's honestly no point to keeping John Lucas III on this roster.
Mike James isn’t that good but he at least looks like he belongs on the same court as other professional players from time to time. Lucas had one decent game against a trainwreck of a team and hasn’t done shit since.
Ozzie Montana - February 16, 2012
And to be honest
His “one good game” wasn’t even really a good game. Wasn’t he like 8-24 with like 7 TOs in that game. He was just the least of the jokes in a game filled with em.
Saukrates - February 16, 2012
I mean i know he had a line of 24-8-8
But it looked better than it really was
Saukrates - February 16, 2012
yeah i mean he took 28 shots
to get like 28 pts… and it took him 45 minutes to get 8 assists. and he’s the point guard.
Jaina - February 16, 2012
Blake hit the midrange there, that is the other thing he needs to get better at
mjtig - February 16, 2012
that will take time, but i can see him being more complete next yr (esp with a real coach)
Geo4MVP - February 16, 2012
Poor Trailblazers.
It’s like they stole the Aztec gold of Cortez and until they give it back they’ll keep losing players to injury. If only they hadn’t strapped Darius Miles to a cannon and dropped him to the bottom of the sea…
Dr. Handsome, D.D.S. - February 16, 2012
The Holy Grail of Basketball is destroying the Clips.
Dr. Handsome, D.D.S. - February 16, 2012
linsanity has seeped into the daily show
god help me…
jesus christos - February 16, 2012
it also hit colbert report on monday
i didnt think stewart would do it because hes new jersey, but i saw the colbert one coming
piccolomair - February 16, 2012
i don't think jon stewart hates himself enough to be a nets and mets fan
jesus christos - February 16, 2012
The Clippers just need more Thrust.
FilthyRich - February 16, 2012
fuck you
hinrich is coming here, not there
piccolomair - February 16, 2012
Clippers' D is almost as bad as the movie 'Chronicle.'
Almost, but not quite.
Dr. Handsome, D.D.S. - February 16, 2012
i heard that movie was actually good ...
lexmarklover - February 16, 2012
ditto
i thought it was one of those shaky cam “be careful what you wish for” type movies, but heard it was actually a new age superhero movie
piccolomair - February 16, 2012
You both heard wrong.
Terribly terribly wrong.
Dr. Handsome, D.D.S. - February 16, 2012
just checked
rotten tomatoes gave it an 85….and i kinda trust rotten tomatoes man
piccolomair - February 16, 2012
Over a doctor, though?
Stacey_Is_King - February 16, 2012
lol
i was just trying to think of some extremely weak joke about him being a doctor
MartyMondays - February 16, 2012
he only plays on tv
and by tv i mean wwe
piccolomair - February 16, 2012
Or, you can just go see the movie.
Dr. Handsome, D.D.S. - February 16, 2012
yeah, I trust Rotten too.
lexmarklover - February 16, 2012
damn, camby looks old as hell
and yet, hes still a solid rebounding machine and blocker.
Geo4MVP - February 16, 2012
how long has he been around, it has to be a long time--but he still may be one of the best shot blockers
mjtig - February 16, 2012
hes been in the league since 96
drafted by the raptors!
Geo4MVP - February 16, 2012
and i remember seeing him with the knicks
esp in the 99 championship match vs spurs.
Geo4MVP - February 16, 2012
Out West, Mavs are starting to click, I think the Spurs will hit the wall eventhough they have been playing well...
Clips, Mavs and Thunder have the best shot I think.
mjtig - February 16, 2012
The Spurs are legit.
They’ve done all of this missing Manu for most of the season and their young players are coming along really well. Pop, as usual, has done a great job with that squad. Oh, Tony Parker and Tim Duncan are balling right now.
dakoose - February 16, 2012
Agreed.
Tim S. - February 16, 2012
no post up players besides no acl guy I cant remember his name atm who can do some of that but is small, Duncan can't post up anymore for the most part...
Parker does play well. Not sure about Manu when he will get back. They are a perimeter team that relies on the jump shot now and their core are older. I think they fade away in the playoffs, they do have a great coach so there is that.
mjtig - February 16, 2012
They don't rely as much on the jumper as you think.
Parker gets most of his points in the paint, Duncan still gets his, they have a young slasher in Leonard and a decent frontcourt depth with Blair and Splitter. They don’t shoot all that high a volume of three’s either(13th most attempts per game).
There’s no real clear cut monster in the West; I wouldn’t put my money on San Antonio but I wouldn’t be that shocked if they came out of the West.
dakoose - February 16, 2012
OKC was supposed to be the monster,
but the Spurs are right there with them, and the Clippers and Mavs aren’t far behind.
Tim S. - February 17, 2012
theres gonna be a bunch of trades happening the west
teams like denver and lakers are a trade or two away from suddenly becoming possible contenders. Lakers might just land dwight howard, and denver might get nash. the east is top heavy, but id say the two best two teams are definetly in the east. The west is a bit more competetive, but i think the trade deadline is gonna change that. Cant wait till trade deadline
piccolomair - February 16, 2012
I don't see a trade making Denver much better,
since their strength is depth. But a trade could make the Lakers much, much better. All they need are decent players at PG and SF.
Tim S. - February 16, 2012
They could strike a deal for Dwight,
but with no guarantee of resigning, odds are it never happens. They can offer a helluva package, though.
dakoose - February 16, 2012
Oh, and the Lakers trading for Howard
will not make them much better this season, since they presumably would have to trade Bynum, Gasol, or both to get Howard.
Tim S. - February 16, 2012
Imagine how good Batum will be
when he hits puberty.
dakoose - February 16, 2012
That Benny is such a kidder
chicity773 - February 16, 2012
CP3 shooting like JL3 today.
Dr. Handsome, D.D.S. - February 16, 2012
LOL, well the Clips don't look like contenders atm
mjtig - February 16, 2012
Yeah, but its a long game and if they play even an ounce of defense
Portland shouldn’t be able to score.
dakoose - February 16, 2012
agreed a lot of firepower on that clips team
mjtig - February 16, 2012
good pass to blake under the rim
mjtig - February 16, 2012
i miss brandon roy
let’s all pitch in, and fix his knees, and in gratitude he’ll play for us.
MartyMondays - February 16, 2012
We can rebuild him
T.Moore - February 16, 2012
LOL....we can make him stronger
3ptace - February 16, 2012
haha!
MartyMondays - February 16, 2012
I'm almost ashamed to admit I'm that old....
3ptace - February 16, 2012
hey now
I’m older than you
MartyMondays - February 16, 2012
front court all with double doubles
last time it happened?
I went to basket refs play index but did not see how to search for that stat…..
I would love to know
