Half way home and my DRose still blowing up
Today I didn’t even have to use my Kyle K.
I got to say it was a good day.
Maybe it's hyperbolic (ok it is)...but this serious...it's a horrible and repetitive poor judgement
Rose shouldn’t even be playing. Turf toe is serious and he shouldn’t be out there period…and he especially shouldn’t be out the in a blowout against the Nets. Where’s Williams for the Nets? On the damn bench.
Get ball on wing.
Pump fake.
Slow dribble drive at 30 degree angle away from rim. Slow fade away jump.
Dish to cutting teammate.
Slow motion mini sky hook.
Profit.

blowing out half the league and having the best record in the league. Rose is nursing a sore toe. There’s plenty of time to stay sharp. I just don’t get it.
seeing dan roan age. i remember he used to always be on the bulls beat back in the 90s. him and mark kelly for NBC. god i miss that dude, he was hilarious.
There's just value in a guy that knows exactly where and how to get his shots
Upside and athleticism are so overrated when it comes to “winning basketball”. When you’re talking about the best teams, it’s also usually the smartest teams
Even down at the Y often the best team is the one with the smartest “veteran” guys. I’d like us to sign one more smart big man, especially since Taj will be out for a bit.
It’s amazing enough that a 22/8/5 with multiple dunks and acrobatic layups is just another day in the life of Derrick Rose. There were a lot of people who doubted he could be this good.
whole team’s playing better too but i still look forward to those nights when he looks unstoppable, like 36 in his playoff debut or 44 against san antonio
He plays smart, is in the right place at the right time, makes the correct pass, always seems to hit a big shot. etc. I think he should always be used for quality minutes.
I know Lu is the glue and all, but out of our best players, I think he's the most dispensable
Not that I don’t think he’s incredibly valuable (particularly in the playoffs in guarding great players), but his offense has been very sub par, and you can win a lot of games offensively with the team that we’ll throw out there without him
Also doesn’t hurt that we’re stacked at his position
Yeah, but like I said, that's why Lu is more valuable in the playoffs
I was talking about players that we couldn’t afford to lose during the regular season. By no means do I think that Lu is not a very good player, I just think he’s one of our good players that we can lose, and still be ok
I specifically said that “during the regular season” he’s “the most dispensable, of our BEST players”. Not sure how that’s a huge knock. I just think that out of Jo, Derrick, Boozer and Rip, Lu is the guy that can get hurt for a period of time, and we’d notice the least slippage. It will still hurt a ton, and if he’s out for the season, its a killer. Don’t see how that’s a very critical statement. I think people are a little too touchy sometimes
seems like you're implying that now that booz and jo ar playing passably deng is the new weak link
i mean “of our good players he’s the most dispensable”? the guy who does everything? and averages double-digit scoring on top of it? the guy we’ve been selling as an all-star all season? i dont get it
Bogans was a weak link. Lu is a huge reason why we’re so good. He will be missed, no doubt. Particularly against the better teams. And really, it’s more of a commentary on how deep this team is.
look after 4 weeks of no one cutting the bigs any slack and Lu being everywhere at once
we thump a crappy, guard-heavy team while he sits (and jo and booz both play well), i open the thread and the first thing i see is “Lu is dispensable, his offense is sub-par anyway.” if you mean the team’s deep i agree, but it seemed like a silly conclusion
Did not mean for it to sound as though I don’t think he’s a valuable member of the team. I was actually trying to be positive in saying that we’re gonna be ok if he’s out for a little bit
I know exactly what Thibs was thinking playing his starters at the end but it's so risky.
He’s playing with fire and it’s going to screw the team over. Rose complained of fatigue after the Miami series and has a chronic toe injury. Noah and Boozer are perpetually hurt, Hamilton is old, Deng may be seriously hurt.
It’s a Monday night game against the Nets. The offense looked good for 3.5 quarters, you don’t need another 4 minutes to prove that the starters can mesh.
Thibs is a basketball genius but dude needs to learn sooner or later coaches can’t treat each game with life or death intensity.
Doc had the same issues their first title year but yeah he adapted pretty quickly.
At this point Thibs should be close enough with his best players to kind of realize when players need rest whether they ask for it or not. Of course Rose wants to play through it all, but that doesn’t make it ok to keep him out there.
i believe it was this espn editorial story, like 3 pages all about thibs and his background. At one poiint it talks about tom as an assistant to doc rivers, i believe in the story the celtics are losing, by 12 with 8 minutes left to go, and thibs is kinda yelling at the starters, big 3 namely, to play defense and stuff, and doc eventually calls a timeout. Thibs if i remember right had this gameplan set that would bring them back, and doc says no, i think im gonna sit them. And he does, and the celtics end up losing that game, but then they played a real good team (i dont remember) the next game and they absolutely destroyed them….
Basically doc recalls that story and suggests that sometimes thibs gets so into imagining the plays and scouting reports that he forgets the idea that the players are human, and that a little rest can go a long way….
The story basically then has a line for thibs who says he considers that moment the day he realized he wasnt ready to coach, and thats why he remained a celtics assistant for another two years. He suggests he lacked docs insight
Im thinking someone needs to remind thibs of that story….
Boston is getting better, but I still don't think they're gonna be a real threat at the end of the year
Pierce is coming around, I think there might be something to the idea that a few of their guys weren’t ready for the season. That being said, Orlando still played like absolute shit
No worries for the Bulls in this game. Even with all the injuries to key role players and potential Eastern Allstar Loul Deng the Bulls hadto much depth for the Nets. Most of the Bulls off the bench guys would be starters for the Nets. Rose seem to be back and running, not as explosive as a 100% Rose but he still got the job done.
What happened to Rondo?

Miami beat us by an average of 8 pts
in last year’s playoffs. Rip is averaging 13 right now. Those pts + assists should be just what we need to beat Miami.
Rafael Gomez - January 23, 2012
I wish it were that simple
windycitywarrior - January 23, 2012
Considering he's replacing Bogans
We’re a lot closer than we were.

“Yeah let me put my star with turf toe back in” I don’t get it and am tired of it. I see why it took him so long to get a headcoaching gig
Dils - January 23, 2012
Agreed...doing this honestly is enough to say he shouldn't be the head coach
I keep hoping Rivers will call him and talk some sense into him.
hitlesswonder - January 23, 2012
you are so cute
windycitywarrior - January 23, 2012

Dils - January 23, 2012
I'm not saying its ok to put him back out there. Its totally not ok and I think its dumb too
But to say he shouldn’t be head coach (your bit) is silly. He’ll learn. (I hope)
windycitywarrior - January 23, 2012
Maybe it's hyperbolic (ok it is)...but this serious...it's a horrible and repetitive poor judgement
Rose shouldn’t even be playing. Turf toe is serious and he shouldn’t be out there period…and he especially shouldn’t be out the in a blowout against the Nets. Where’s Williams for the Nets? On the damn bench.
hitlesswonder - January 23, 2012
That's sugar-coating it...he's actually being far stupider than that

He can use practice. In a season where stars are dropping like flies, he needs to be smarter

Yeah this week for once is normal
But still early on was brutal, no time for practice until maybe this week….And then next month…ugh
T.Moore - January 23, 2012
Which reminds me

T.Moore - January 23, 2012

Im alarmed, but at the sametime i trust thibs
Trey23 - January 23, 2012

Upside and athleticism are so overrated when it comes to “winning basketball”. When you’re talking about the best teams, it’s also usually the smartest teams
Juiceboxjerry - January 23, 2012
Too true.
Even down at the Y often the best team is the one with the smartest “veteran” guys. I’d like us to sign one more smart big man, especially since Taj will be out for a bit.
AerialAssault - January 23, 2012
He's got a good 3 years left imo
He’s just like Ray, both in great shape to play for a while
T.Moore - January 23, 2012

Rose: 22 pts, 8 assists
Hamilton: 22 points, 10 assists
Noah: 16 points, 10 rebounds
Boozer: 14 points, 9 rebounds.
AerialAssault - January 23, 2012

paddyfairview - January 23, 2012
Regular season is nonsense
Do just enough to keep winning while staying healthy at the same time.
AerialAssault - January 23, 2012
Winning a title gets you in the pantheon.
It’s amazing enough that a 22/8/5 with multiple dunks and acrobatic layups is just another day in the life of Derrick Rose. There were a lot of people who doubted he could be this good.
Ozzie Montana - January 23, 2012
yeah i just mean this season he's due for a big one
paddyfairview - January 23, 2012
He had a 29/16 against Chris Paul, I'd count that as a big one.

He plays smart, is in the right place at the right time, makes the correct pass, always seems to hit a big shot. etc. I think he should always be used for quality minutes.
AerialAssault - January 23, 2012
Gotta come up with Scal for 6th man ads now
a PAC’s work is never done
Big illinoize - January 23, 2012
I had to miss the pregame.
Any news from the Bulls about the wrist other than a negative X Ray?
Sandberg's evil twin - January 23, 2012
Not really. Sounds like it's a pretty serious injury, but made less so by the fact that it's on his left wrist
Sounds like he’s debating playing through it, or getting surgery (no one knows how long he’ll be out with surgery, although many think they do)
Juiceboxjerry - January 23, 2012
Thanks JBJ
Sandberg's evil twin - January 23, 2012
I know Lu is the glue and all, but out of our best players, I think he's the most dispensable
Not that I don’t think he’s incredibly valuable (particularly in the playoffs in guarding great players), but his offense has been very sub par, and you can win a lot of games offensively with the team that we’ll throw out there without him
Also doesn’t hurt that we’re stacked at his position
Juiceboxjerry - January 23, 2012
I disagree
A shitty game like this may cause that illusion but when the time comes to guard LeBron….
JustAnotherFan - January 23, 2012
Yeah, but like I said, that's why Lu is more valuable in the playoffs
I was talking about players that we couldn’t afford to lose during the regular season. By no means do I think that Lu is not a very good player, I just think he’s one of our good players that we can lose, and still be ok
Juiceboxjerry - January 23, 2012
Brew will have a nice challenge in Granger
JustAnotherFan - January 23, 2012
Yep, and you're right that defensively is where this hurts us the most (and probably rebounding too)
Juiceboxjerry - January 23, 2012
granger's having a pretty garbage season though
Jaina - January 23, 2012
I'm more interested in seeing how the frontcourt fares against a very physical (cheap-shot happy) group.
Scal is definitely not doing much of substance against the Pacers.
Ozzie Montana - January 23, 2012
Yeah, they lost some of their thuggery with McRoberts leaving
but I’m worried about that game. Hurting and missing players against a Pacers team that is gonna be highly motivated
Juiceboxjerry - January 23, 2012
ugh would you just pick a guy to shit on and stick with it
paddyfairview - January 23, 2012
Whaaa? Who's shitting on anyone?
How does that comment make you think that I’m shitting on Lu, at all?
Juiceboxjerry - January 23, 2012
I took it as you saying we could get rid of Deng and be fine
I’m sure the Bulls will manage during his injury, but he would be a tremendous loss for the season/playoffs.
AerialAssault - January 23, 2012
Not the case at all
I specifically said that “during the regular season” he’s “the most dispensable, of our BEST players”.
Juiceboxjerry - January 23, 2012
Deng is a saint and you shouldn't say anything that sounds otherwise
;)
JustAnotherFan - January 23, 2012
this
Big illinoize - January 23, 2012
seems like you're implying that now that booz and jo ar playing passably deng is the new weak link
i mean “of our good players he’s the most dispensable”? the guy who does everything? and averages double-digit scoring on top of it? the guy we’ve been selling as an all-star all season? i dont get it
paddyfairview - January 23, 2012
When did I say he's the weak link?
Bogans was a weak link. Lu is a huge reason why we’re so good. He will be missed, no doubt. Particularly against the better teams. And really, it’s more of a commentary on how deep this team is.
Juiceboxjerry - January 23, 2012
*what I said is more of a commentary on how deep the team is
Juiceboxjerry - January 23, 2012
look after 4 weeks of no one cutting the bigs any slack and Lu being everywhere at once
we thump a crappy, guard-heavy team while he sits (and jo and booz both play well), i open the thread and the first thing i see is “Lu is dispensable, his offense is sub-par anyway.” if you mean the team’s deep i agree, but it seemed like a silly conclusion
paddyfairview - January 23, 2012
Well, maybe it came out wrong
Did not mean for it to sound as though I don’t think he’s a valuable member of the team. I was actually trying to be positive in saying that we’re gonna be ok if he’s out for a little bit
Juiceboxjerry - January 23, 2012
Disagree completely
I mean, we are 16-3 in games where Boozer and Noah didn’t show up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuQ7e_IFGJs&feature=related

Next game will be a tough one
JustAnotherFan - January 23, 2012
Ozzie Montana - January 23, 2012
all of that is so true
Rose Colored Goggles - January 23, 2012
It bothers me that the front office doesn't `choose to have a say with injuries.
I can understand staying out of other areas. Injuries, it ssems to me, is a legitimate area of concern for the front office.
hlac - January 23, 2012
What's funny is that Thibs is coming from Boston, and Doc is probably the best in the league at knowing when to push, and rest his players
Juiceboxjerry - January 23, 2012
Doc had the same issues their first title year but yeah he adapted pretty quickly.
At this point Thibs should be close enough with his best players to kind of realize when players need rest whether they ask for it or not. Of course Rose wants to play through it all, but that doesn’t make it ok to keep him out there.
Ozzie Montana - January 23, 2012
man im trying to find it but having no success
i believe it was this espn editorial story, like 3 pages all about thibs and his background.
Im thinking someone needs to remind thibs of that story….
damn i wish i could remember the link

Can't tell if Boston might be good or Orlando was drunk.
Ozzie Montana - January 23, 2012
Boston is getting better, but I still don't think they're gonna be a real threat at the end of the year
Pierce is coming around, I think there might be something to the idea that a few of their guys weren’t ready for the season. That being said, Orlando still played like absolute shit
Juiceboxjerry - January 23, 2012
that team is always a threat to collapse if they're cold because of how they're built but MAN they looked like shit
56 points, seriously?
paddyfairview - January 23, 2012
Fluke game.
No Ray Allen or Rondo, Celtics went on a huge run (at one point 19-1, maybe even more than that but I turned away) and didn’t look back.

No worries....
