This game has convinced me
Dwight Howard or bust. We are not that good without Rose. .500 at best. I say keep as much of the Bench Mob as possible and then work on a starting lineup featuring Howard, Booz, and Rose.
No I have never been a big believer in Deng as an untouchable player.
He has too many flaws to be counted on to be a game changer on a consistent basis when rose is off or hurt. The dude CANNOT dribble, is a train wreck on the fast break, and he might be one of the worst finishers at the rim for a guy that gets so much praise..
Deng not getting anything going driving with the ball.
Going to have to go to the outside game if that keeps up. He’s been blocked, missed badly, or lost the ball too much for me. Needs a three or two to wake him up.
John Wall has absolutely no clue what he;s doing out there
He’s just complete garbage in the half court. The guy is getting by by purely on athleticism. He’s basically the Tyrus Thomas of point guards, which means yfbb will want to trade for him soon
I think at least a little of it can be attributed with the situation he's in
He’s on a team with no vets, some head case teammates, and a coach that looks like he might be losing control. He can be better than were he’s at right now.
Just turned on the game … not too upset by the score, but looked at the box score and you’ve got to be kidding me.
John Lucas is our leading scorer? Ok Deng is playing a lot of minutes again and shooting very poorly, but Boozer and Noah again … WTF?
You would think this would be the game with Rose out for those two to step up. But same old story and same frontcourt finishing the game on the bench. We’re not gonna beat the heat if Boozer and Noah don’t play up to their ability.
I thought the NFL was lousy outside of 5 or 6 good teams but the NBA is one-upping them
Its amazing how shitty some of these teams are. No one worked on their game in the off season. Noah looks worse than he was in high school. The Wizards are a friggin abortion.
if we want a hot offense to start games, let Korver start for Brewer. Yes, it’s knee jerk reaction time, damnit. Korver’s been playing like a starting 2 the last couple of weeks on both sides of the ball.
It's kind of an embarrassment of riches at the 2 guard position.
Putting aside today, Brewer has been damn good too. Rip, when healthy, will be good. We’re going to have a monster rotation when/if we get healthy. This team is so deep.
i like brewer, but the more i watch him, i think hes better suited for the bench, hes an energy guy, and it doesnt help the starters as much as the bench. Its not really that hes not playing well, but i think hes better suited for the bench….hes still one of my favorite players on the bulls though
Could be confidence issues.
Could be because of the lockout.
Could be the surgery last year and he’s still not over it.
Could be an undisclosed injury.
Could be we simply have too high of expectations for him.
Or it could be a simple slump.
Whatever it is….HE NEEDS TO SNAP THE FUCK OUT OF IT
i mean, really it was like a great movie, funny, action packed, sad moments, happy moments, horror (like brewer playing point) it was just fun basketball…that i hope i never see again :)
I think the bulls should all go buy derrick a cake and realize how much easier he makes their job for them, especially deng who was such a non factor when asked to carry the offensive load. I think he benefits so much from sneaking around defenses when they are locked onto other guys like rose, and in this game he was asked to be the number one offensive force and failed at it because he couldnt sneak around and get open.
I think a huge difference between wall and rose is this, rose even as a rookie playing with those bad bulls teams, would have made himself known in the game. Wall vanished late in the game, and that makes no sense, we really didnt have the defense to keep him from dominating, but he settled on bad jumpers all night and passed the ball to guys who were struggling worse than him. Rose wouldve made his presence known until the very end….
Korver played terrific, it helps when you have a wizards team that runs such terrible offense that no one really could take advantage of his lack of quickness on defense
brewer was the opposite, he sucked on offense, but he was everywhere on defense
Asik is the man, i love watching him play, that dunk on mcgee was terrific icing on his destruction cake
I missed boozer and noahs play, maybe thats a good thing, why they ride the bench so damn much?
Taj had his moments, he did his usual hard hat and lunch pail work.
And john lucas, has now in my mind officially became a bull. I disliked his play, and probably still do, but i gotta admit, hes got heart, and he plays hard despite his obvious defeciences, im glad hes on teh bench…welcome to the bulls john lucas
if it wasnt the wiz i dont think his play would look so good. Im more impressed with jl3’s heart and effort as opposed to his skill set, i think if we had cj, there would have been no question the bulls win. I think with jl3 i always felt that they might come back in. Look at how many shots he took…. cj i think is a better scorer defender and while not as flashy, a lot better at running the offense
Deng sucked on offense because he tried to iso Joe Johnson style (and he even got doubled sometimes). But when he plays with Rose he comes from an open lane and it’s money in the bank
because the dude just played 40 minutes a game for 10 games over two weeks. Deng is routinely unable to be good offensively on the second night of a back to back, but on the third? No chance.
NOTABLE: Mike James, the point guard signed by the Bulls on Wednesday because of injuries to Rose and Watson, traveled Wednesday from Reno, Nev. (which was hosting the NBA’s D-League Showcase) to Los Angeles to Cleveland to Erie, Pa., where he plays for the Erie Bayhawks of the D-League. He then was told by the team that the Bulls wanted him in Chicago for Wednesday’s game. He then flew from Erie to Cleveland to Chicago and got to the United Center during the first quarter of the game. He played the final 40 seconds.
Is that why Noah is looking so shitty? The explainating for boozer is that he just sucks. He is so soft. I almost shit my pants when he tried that power dunk, but then the next few times down the court he just went back to shooting 20 foot jumpers instead of working the post on those scrub wizard players. Last year when Noah was out Boozer took over games in the post with great post moves, spin moves, and creating shots from the post for Rose. This year there is NON OF THAT. I cant stand watching him. Seriously.
This guy has everyone ready for any situation. Who else would have told JL3 to keep shooting after 25 attempts. The confidence this guy has instilled is ridic.
I don’t care how many minutes players play. Thibs knows too much to doubt
look: thibs is the best coach in the nba-- and i think there are some pretty good coaches
out there right now. but he really needs an intervention with deng. people do have limits, even elite athletes, and it almost looks like deng’s legs are too fatigued to shoot; hes either way short or he tries to overcompensate and clangs it off the rim joint. hes still an effective player because hes deng, but he needs to be able to shoot if this team is going anywhere.
"Coach (Tom) Thibodeau was telling me to stay aggressive, don’t back off and don’t stop shooting," Lucas said after the Bulls’ third victory in three nights.
"He kept telling me if, `I’m open, shoot it. If I’m open, shoot it.’ I felt like I was shooting too much and then he got on me for not shooting the times I was open."
This game has convinced me
Dwight Howard or bust. We are not that good without Rose. .500 at best. I say keep as much of the Bench Mob as possible and then work on a starting lineup featuring Howard, Booz, and Rose.
Brigade17 - January 11, 2012
Will the Magic even want Noah now?
ColonelFatheart - January 11, 2012
I'd assume so. It is hard to judge a 26 year old on a 10 game stretch
I, however, am seriously concerned about him.
Brigade17 - January 11, 2012
it's part of Noah's strategy
JustAnotherFan - January 11, 2012
If Noah keeps like this, totally agree
Polemic - January 11, 2012 via iPhone app
in theory it would be a bit different if we had the rest of our lineup
watson and rip would have made a huge difference in this game.

dsenchi - January 11, 2012
Korver's J is so money right now
RogersPark Kris - January 11, 2012
seriosuly guy, u expect the offense to be smooth without a legit pg, lmao
i mean, with watson, yes, watson, this team would be up 20 pts. Lucas cant setup plays, its fuckin stupid.
Geo4MVP - January 11, 2012
game's almost over, let's hope Rose can play on Friday.

OdwallaJuicish - January 11, 2012
Lu is a very good player, but not an All Star
Noah is just flaming hot shit right now. I would give Boozer some blame, but nobody has even tried to give him the ball.
Kyle Korver, Tal Gibson, and Omer need a raise after this game.
Also, Ronnie Brewer is nice, but he ain’t a starting two. Rip come back soon
Juiceboxjerry - January 11, 2012
Exactly
SAVE FERRIS - January 11, 2012

JustAnotherFan - January 11, 2012
Wiz hoisting stupid shots. thank goodness
Xfactor26 - January 11, 2012
John Wall has absolutely no clue what he;s doing out there
He’s just complete garbage in the half court. The guy is getting by by purely on athleticism. He’s basically the Tyrus Thomas of point guards, which means yfbb will want to trade for him soon
Juiceboxjerry - January 11, 2012
I dont want any part of him
dsenchi - January 11, 2012
I think at least a little of it can be attributed with the situation he's in
He’s on a team with no vets, some head case teammates, and a coach that looks like he might be losing control. He can be better than were he’s at right now.
windycitywarrior - January 11, 2012
This Noah/Boozer thing is now an issue
what is this like the 3rd game in a row they’ve been on the bench in the 4th?
Basketball Smurf - January 11, 2012
And to make matters worse
It’s the Wizards tonight. Surely they should be able to sustain a lead against these guys.
bryield - January 11, 2012 via iPhone app
One stat that shows what rose means.... we have 4 fastbreak points!
quest3300 - January 11, 2012
Jo and Boozer
8 pts and 10 rebs combined. With your star player out you would think they would have big games. smdfh
ChiTownBallz - January 11, 2012

The Bulls are winning the game right now.

it’s easier to deal with if we can make it into some sort of failure
paddyfairview - January 11, 2012
I hope Thibs will try to play Booz with Omer more
instead of just benching him and Jo at the same time. Try Taj/Noah and Booz/omer
trig - January 11, 2012
i have come to a conclusion
booz and noah jus cant play with each other. Let booz roll with omer and noah with gibson.

Deng is having an awesome bad game.
Shooting like crap, too many TOs, but 14 boards, 3 steals and 2 blocks.
Dr. Handsome, D.D.S. - January 11, 2012
and 12 points
JustAnotherFan - January 11, 2012
Well I put that in the 'shooting like crap' category
seeing as it’s taken him 20 shots to do that. :-P
Dr. Handsome, D.D.S. - January 11, 2012
well
add to that he is holding his man on D
JustAnotherFan - January 11, 2012
And put that in the 3 steals 2 blocked shots category.
I got you covered! :-D
Dr. Handsome, D.D.S. - January 11, 2012

OdwallaJuicish - January 11, 2012

bobslob - January 11, 2012

Xfactor26 - January 11, 2012

rsikes - January 11, 2012
He might be. I'd give him the chance
Brigade17 - January 11, 2012
After the Bogans thing, I would say no
quest3300 - January 11, 2012
No, but he may end up playing more minutes than Noah.
Tim S. - January 12, 2012
In all fairness, Lucas is doing everything he can and he’s not completely useless.
JP_Frost - January 11, 2012
of course not, but he cannot setup a single play to save his life, lmao
Geo4MVP - January 11, 2012

RogersPark Kris - January 11, 2012
C'mon, JL3 triple double!

ajayflying23 - January 11, 2012

That would also make late-season games between non-contenders more exciting.

KCinIL - January 11, 2012
Are you serious? This is disgusting
Orange Juice - January 11, 2012
you've missed a lot of fun....
rsikes - January 11, 2012
he's our leading scorer

I'm officially on the 'start Omer' bandwagon.
I see no point in giving Noah the starting spot now. And knowing Jo, I’m sure he would agree that Omer deserves it.
Dr. Handsome, D.D.S. - January 11, 2012
Noah is making me sick
macjack09 - January 11, 2012
I definitely think Thibs is letting Noah about his play
by benching him so much lately. Hopefully it makes him pick it up.
Joninja - January 11, 2012
I agree.
Plus Noah and Boozer don’t seem to play well together. Asik with Boozer and Noah with Gibson seems to work better.

KCinIL - January 11, 2012
Yeah. Make him earn that starting spot again.
Make that spot competitive. That might bring him back to his old self.
Wake - January 11, 2012
Thats what I want too
Boozer keeps fuckin around he might need that too
KCinIL - January 11, 2012
trade lucas III for Dwight tonight
trig - January 11, 2012
Fun game
Juiceboxjerry - January 11, 2012
And while we're at it
if we want a hot offense to start games, let Korver start for Brewer. Yes, it’s knee jerk reaction time, damnit. Korver’s been playing like a starting 2 the last couple of weeks on both sides of the ball.
Dr. Handsome, D.D.S. - January 11, 2012
Korver has been so incredibly important
Don’t know about starting him, but he definitely deserves to get a majority of the backup minutes when Rip returns
Juiceboxjerry - January 11, 2012
really he just deserves to get more minutes behind deng
deng doesn’t have to play a zillion minutes every fucking time lol
Jaina - January 11, 2012
It's kind of an embarrassment of riches at the 2 guard position.
Putting aside today, Brewer has been damn good too. Rip, when healthy, will be good. We’re going to have a monster rotation when/if we get healthy. This team is so deep.
Dr. Handsome, D.D.S. - January 11, 2012
i agree
i like brewer, but the more i watch him, i think hes better suited for the bench, hes an energy guy, and it doesnt help the starters as much as the bench. Its not really that hes not playing well, but i think hes better suited for the bench….hes still one of my favorite players on the bulls though
piccolomair - January 11, 2012
Deng
12 points 15 boards 2 dimes 3 steals 2 blocks….a MANS game
KCinIL - January 11, 2012
And 45 minutes!
windycitywarrior - January 11, 2012
Well if this was the time to play so many mins
Rose out, Rip out, CJ out, we needed it tonight

UnBannedVikingholic - January 11, 2012
Could be a lot of things
Could be confidence issues.
Could be because of the lockout.
Could be the surgery last year and he’s still not over it.
Could be an undisclosed injury.
Could be we simply have too high of expectations for him.
Or it could be a simple slump.
Whatever it is….HE NEEDS TO SNAP THE FUCK OUT OF IT

rocky_mountain_bull - January 11, 2012
man this was a fun game to watch
i mean, really it was like a great movie, funny, action packed, sad moments, happy moments, horror (like brewer playing point) it was just fun basketball…that i hope i never see again :)
I disliked his play, and probably still do, but i gotta admit, hes got heart, and he plays hard despite his obvious defeciences, im glad hes on teh bench…welcome to the bulls john lucas
piccolomair - January 11, 2012
JL3> CJ
Trey23 - January 11, 2012
I'm not that sold yet
JustAnotherFan - January 11, 2012
i dont think so
if it wasnt the wiz i dont think his play would look so good. Im more impressed with jl3’s heart and effort as opposed to his skill set, i think if we had cj, there would have been no question the bulls win. I think with jl3 i always felt that they might come back in. Look at how many shots he took…. cj i think is a better scorer defender and while not as flashy, a lot better at running the offense
piccolomair - January 11, 2012
Definitely on offense. I'm not sure on defense.
Tim S. - January 12, 2012
Yeah, I think Rose really makes Deng better
Deng sucked on offense because he tried to iso Joe Johnson style (and he even got doubled sometimes). But when he plays with Rose he comes from an open lane and it’s money in the bank
JustAnotherFan - January 11, 2012
Deng sucked on offense
because the dude just played 40 minutes a game for 10 games over two weeks. Deng is routinely unable to be good offensively on the second night of a back to back, but on the third? No chance.
kbukie - January 11, 2012
yeah, that too
JustAnotherFan - January 11, 2012
He was also forced to become the first option offensively
which was unfortunate.

Not much positive to take from that.
Brigade17 - January 11, 2012
and technically our starting center (i refuse to believe that noah is playing in these games anymore)
piccolomair - January 11, 2012
I can't tell if I should give KC credit...
He addressed the Noah thing, more than once…but in a way that sounded like he wanted Thibs to make an injury excuse for Noah.
At any rate, about struggles of the front court, Thibs basically said ‘this season’s gonna be weird . . . deal with it . . . ’

Thibs is wise

Watch the Rose haters..
“In the two games in the last year that Rose didn’t play, CJ Watson scored 30 against Denver and JL3 had a near 3×2.”
D-Cas - January 11, 2012
Is Omer Asik simply better than Joakim?
Is that why Noah is looking so shitty? The explainating for boozer is that he just sucks. He is so soft. I almost shit my pants when he tried that power dunk, but then the next few times down the court he just went back to shooting 20 foot jumpers instead of working the post on those scrub wizard players. Last year when Noah was out Boozer took over games in the post with great post moves, spin moves, and creating shots from the post for Rose. This year there is NON OF THAT. I cant stand watching him. Seriously.
K_yle33 - January 11, 2012

Gotta say this: This is ALL Thibs
This guy has everyone ready for any situation. Who else would have told JL3 to keep shooting after 25 attempts. The confidence this guy has instilled is ridic.
I don’t care how many minutes players play. Thibs knows too much to doubt
Option27 - January 12, 2012 via mobile
look: thibs is the best coach in the nba-- and i think there are some pretty good coaches
out there right now. but he really needs an intervention with deng. people do have limits, even elite athletes, and it almost looks like deng’s legs are too fatigued to shoot; hes either way short or he tries to overcompensate and clangs it off the rim joint. hes still an effective player because hes deng, but he needs to be able to shoot if this team is going anywhere.
